Japan has initiated a convenient eVisa program for Indian tourists, streamlining the visa application process. The eVisa offers a single-entry short-term visa tailored specifically for tourism, granting a stay of up to 90 days in Japan. Both Indian citizens and foreign nationals residing in India can avail themselves of this electronic visa facility.
Under the new system, applicants are required to submit their visa applications to the Visa Application Centers managed by VFS Global, similar to the previous process. However, instead of receiving a traditional visa sticker affixed to their passports, successful applicants will obtain an electronic visa.
The operational process of the eVisa entails travellers presenting a "visa issuance notice" on their smartphones upon arrival at the airport. It's crucial to have access to the internet for this step. Only a digital visa issuance notice will be accepted, and formats such as PDFs, photos, screenshots, or printed copies will not suffice.
Applicants can submit their application forms at any of the five Visa Application Centers without any charge. Alternatively, they can opt to drop their documents at designated US Document Dropoff Centers in select cities for a fee of 850 rupees per application.
Here's how to display the "visa issuance notice" at the airport:
When checking-in at the airport, travellers will be requested to display a "visa issuance notice" on their devices.
A travel agency will provide a "Visa Issuance Notice" with a two-dimensional barcode (printed or in PDF format).
Scan the two-dimensional barcode with your device and enter the required information to display the notice.
By tapping "Display," the electronic "visa issuance notice" will appear, accompanied by a countdown timer to validate its authenticity.
With the introduction of eVisas, Indian travellers planning a trip to Japan can now enjoy a smoother and more convenient visa application process, marking a significant step towards enhancing tourism between the two countries.

The Goa tourism department has partnered with Yoska, organizers of the IRONMAN 70.3 India race to enhance sports tourism. The strategic alliance, formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed by Goa Tourism director Suneel Anchipaka and IRONMAN 70.3 India deputy race director Neil D'silva, aims to position Goa as a premier destination for sports tourism.
Through this collaboration, the tourism department seeks to leverage Goa's natural beauty and vibrant energy to attract quality tourists from around the world. Since its inception in 2019, IRONMAN 70.3 India in Goa has drawn thousands of triathletes from India and 50 other countries to the coastal state over the past three editions. The upcoming 2024 race scheduled for October 27 is expected to continue this trend.
